Rhonda & Mike | Day 028

Rhonda & Mike were in a rush. I introduced myself on the beach and asked whether I could have a few words about their relationship with the coast. Mike asked how long it would take, indicated that they just needed to get the boats launched, perhaps we could talk when they were in the water. So I waded in to make it easier, feeling like I was interfering, manoeuvred to get them both inside my 35mm frame as they drifted here and there in the gentle swell. Asked them again about how they connect with the coast. And before they left, paddling north along the coast in tandem, they shared with me  a longer answer. But that answer was encapsulated in the first words out of Mike's mouth when he was afloat on the water and no longer carrying a slightly frenzied air:

"Like this!"
